The growing demand for business-driven information systems and the good reception of offering software as a service (SaaS) has led to the emergence of a special type of SaaS known as PRaaS (Process as a Service), where the provider offers everything necessary to support the life cycle of a business process including modeling, use, customization and execution of it as if it were any other service. In a PRaaS, service consumers can access predefined process descriptions, customize these processes according to their needs, and remotely execute them in the cloud. All of this is regulated by Service Level Agreements (SLAs).

The overall objective of COPAS is to address some of the challenges that arise when trying to develop, maintain and operate the fastest, most reliable and sustainable information systems offered as PRaaS. In the search for the most efficient solutions possible, intensive use will be made of advanced optimization techniques, which in turn will remain available together with the necessary ecosystem to use them as a PRaaS.
